What could be more perfect than a fall wedding at a horse farm in Wisconsin?! Add a food truck, caricature artist, yard games and some farm cats and you have Saturday afternoon perfection. I was so excited when I was asked to capture Wendi and Mark’s wedding at the Blue Horse Farm in New Richmond. I totally adore barn weddings and their intimate feel. Nadia at A Fine Fete Events was so wonderful to work with during the wedding. All the details were meticulously planned. One of my favorite details was the guest message tree where guests were invited to write a message to the happy couple and hang the message on a tree branch that welcomed everyone into the barn. And the bikes, of course! Wendi and Mark had so many personal touches in the wedding. Wendi’s son walked her down the isle and her daughter played guitar and sang a few songs during the reception. Every aspect was awesome. Enough from me… I will let the pictures do the talking! There are a lot of images. Go slowly and soak it all in! I am so grateful to have been there to watch Mark and Wendi exchange vows. It was an amazing day! And my streak of no rain at my weddings continues! (Knock on wood.) “I’m not sure which is harder,” says Michelle Tanner. “Going to the dentist or talking about oneself.”

Luckily, Michelle’s work does much of her talking for her: fresh, clean, modern. “I work actively to stay up on modern photography trends, but ultimately want to create a timeless product. I love the storytelling aspect of photography. I want you to look back on your images and be taken back to that moment, feeling the same feelings you did when the picture was captured.”

Michelle also understands it can be overwhelming for couples and families to pick a photographer who best complements their personalities. “There are numerous photographers in the Twin Cities area, and we all have tons of passion for what we do,” she says. As to Michelle, her emphasis is on great composition, without forced posing. She possesses a real knack for being in the right place at the right time, capturing natural moments as they happen. Her eye is quick and the shots are crisp, meaning images stand on their own without need for extreme editing or re-touching.
